- Pastry Chef
Chef Masaki honed his techniques at Grand Hyatt Tokyo after joining the hotel in 2003 and has received numerous awards at competitions, including Le Mondial des Arts Sucres, which he won in 2011.
Chef Masaki was appointed pastry chef de cuisine at Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills as part of the opening team and took a strong role in setting up and creating the hotels unique and refined pastry offerings.
"Since my 20s, every competition that I have taken part in has been a great opportunity to learn the intricacies of confectionery making, and how to make it more attractive," says Chef Masaki.
In his free time, he visits art galleries, museums and high-end boutiques in order to view inspiring artworks. His unique ideas and concepts reflect his power of expression, as developed through his competition experiences and as displayed through the special scenes he creates with his sweets. "I always think about how each guest will feel the instant they open their gift box", he says.
